What we are looking for

We welcome explainers, comparisons, histories and close readings that give general readers a useful way into a subject. Strong proposals take one focused question, make its relevance clear and offer a distinct approach. A small, specific subject is often more compelling than a broad survey.

Make the pitch specific

Tell us the proposed subject, the main question the piece will answer, why it suits Grand Culture Journal and how you would make it clear to a reader without specialist background. Include a short note about your relevant experience or perspective, and mention any sources, access or interests that could shape the piece. Do not claim access or expertise you do not have.

Pitches should be original and fact-checkable, with interpretations clearly distinguished from factual claims.
